At the Florida Eye Center we know that enjoying life to the fullest means being in total contact with your surroundings. That requires constantly changing focus to accommodate our everyday activities-at far distances, at arms length or up close. As we grow older, our ability to continually change focus begins to diminish. It is now possible to restore the broad vision of your youth with the Crystalens® Premium Refractive Lens Implant at Florida Eye Center.

Crystalens® Refractive Lens Implants are a solution for many different vision conditions, including: nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, and cataracts. A Crystalens® Refractive Lens Implant may be the refractive surgery option that is best for you, even if you don't have cataracts. The procedures to have a Crystalens® Refractive Lens Implant inserted without having a diagnosis of cataracts, can be referred to as Clear Lens Removal, Clear Lensectomy, Clear Lens Exchange, or Refractive Lens Exchange. These are alternative procedures instead of LASIK.

What is a Crystalens®?

In 2003, Crystalens® became the only FDA-Approved refractive accommodating lens implant. Crystalens® is the first and only advanced focusing implantable lens that allows you to focus automatically and seamlessly from distance to near and everywhere in-between without being dependent on glasses or contact lenses.

The Crystalens™ implant is designed to mimic the eye’s natural lens and the process of accommodation. This focusing is the process by which the natural lens of the eye and the eye muscles are able to provide a full range of vision.

The unique revolutionary design element that makes Crystalens™ the state-of-the-art replacement lens are "hinges". The "hinges" are designed to allow the lens to move, or accommodate to focus on objects near, far and all distances in-between seamlessly to reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses, especially for focusing on computers in the intermediate vision.

Unlike old-style fixed mono-focal lenses first introduced in 1949, which didn't move or change focus the Crystalens® is unique because it has hinges. Hinges give it the ability to move, thus focusing as your eye's natural lens did when you were younger.

New

Crystalens® accommodates like the natural lens. After implantation of Crystalens®, most patients will see brighter and clearer from distance, intermediate to near like they did when they were younger.
